Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy, also known as physical therapy in some regions, is a healthcare profession focused on restoring and maintaining physical function and mobility, preventing injury, and managing pain through various therapeutic techniques. Physiotherapists are trained healthcare professionals who assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiorespiratory, and other conditions that affect movement and physical function. Physiotherapy aims to enhance quality of life, promote functional independence, and facilitate a return to optimal physical health and activity levels. Treatment plans are tailored to each individual’s needs, taking into account their specific condition, goals, and personal preferences. Physiotherapists work collaboratively with patients, healthcare professionals, and other interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care and support throughout the rehabilitation process. Some treatment plans may include: manual therapy, electrotherapy, IMS (intramuscular stimulation), medical acupuncture, assistive devices and equipment and home exercise plans.

Kinesiology

Kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement, encompassing the anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and motor control involved in physical activity. It examines how muscles, bones, joints, and the nervous system work together to produce movement and how movement patterns can affect overall health and performance. Kinesiology also explores factors such as exercise physiology, sports psychology, and rehabilitation techniques to optimize human movement and prevent injury. Kinesiologists work with people of all ages and abilities to identify suboptimal movement mechanisms and create a tailored treatment plan to meet individual goals. Whether you are recovering from an injury, training for an event or need help with creating healthy movement patterns, our kinesiologist can help you achieve your movement goals. Some options for treatment include: stretches, workout programs, active rehabilitation programs, yoga prescription and movement pattern conditioning.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body. It is based on the concept of Qi (pronounced “chee”), which is believed to be the vital energy that flows through the body along pathways known as meridians. The insertion of needles at these points is thought to stimulate the flow of Qi and restore balance within the body. Acupuncture is used to treat a wide range of conditions, both physical and mental. Some of the common conditions that acupuncture is often used to treat include: chronic pain, musculoskeletal disorders, digestive disorders, neurological disorders or jaw pain. Upon initial assessment, your acupuncturist will go over history, current symptoms and created a tailored treatment plan for you.

Mikayla Shymka,

Due to the team effort of Bobby and Jacob, I’m finally feeling improvement. My pain is manageable, and I’m even sleeping better! I would highly recommend Kelowna Physiotherapy Associates to anyone struggling with chronic issues. They truly care about their patients and it shows in the results. Thank you!

Frank Fabian,

I highly recommend this clinic. I saw Amanda several months back for a knee injury after a marathon and she helped resolve my pain with a few needles in 1 day! She identified my muscle weakness that triggered the injury and gave me strength exercises to work on so it doesn’t happen again! I’ve been back running stronger and pain free because of it! Thank you Amanda🤙
